Transmission Interconnection Impact and Operational Studies of 235MW Liberty Power Plant (IPP) with National Grid System

Objectives/background/needs:  This plant was under capacity and reliability testing.  After many unsuccessful tests, they wanted to simulate the plan and grid system to investigate the issues and provide recommendations for successful capacity and reliability tests.

Key deliverables and solution provided: Power system studies using PSS/E software to identify and propose remedial solutions for removing inherent transmission constraints in dispersing plant’s power under different operating scenarios. Load rejection/Load variation test simulations for evaluating plant reliability. Short circuit studies. Stability analysis to check plant interaction with the grid system along with some adjustment of Excitation system parameters. Determine benefits contributed by Liberty Plant to Utility’s power system. Recommendations.
